GDISC – 26th Steering Group Meeting

Strategic management of migration was the main subject of the Steering Group meeting in Switzerland. The discussions included also objectives and challenges facing the GDISC in 2017. The two day conference was attended by Rafal Rogala, Head of the Office for Foreigners.

In the panel disscusion concerning strategic management of foreigners, the development of this type of approach was presented on the example of Switzerland. Whereas the representative from the Netherlands gave a presentation on the flexibility of migration services. Rafal Rogala, Head of the OFF, presented how Poland manages the massive influx of migrants on the eastern border of the European Union.

The current migration trends in Europe and practical ways of managing the influx of foreigners were also discussed on The Steering Group meeting . The final point of the meeting was the presentation of the GDISC priorities for the approaching months. This was the last meeting of the Steering Group under the leadership by Switzerland. Since 2017, the work of the organization will be guided by Germany.

GDISC (General Directors of Immigration Services Conference) is an informal network supporting the cooperation of the migration services of European countries. It consists of 28 EU Member States, three Candidate Countries (Iceland, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Turkey), the potential candidate for EU membership of Bosnia and Herzegovina and two Schengen states – Norway and Switzerland.
